 The Lotus Temple Complex is aBahai Temple completed in the shape of its namesake the Lotus and is set in atwenty six acre park like setting.


 To get to the Lotus Temple by Delhi MetroRailway, take the Violet line also known as the Heritage line to Kalkaji Mandir Station, after exiting the station you can take a rickshaw or a cab or youcan also walk. The Lotus Temple is about 1.2 kilometres from the station, if youchoose to walk- follow the signs and walk on Lotus Temple Road Winter hours for the Lotus Temple are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. the last entry is at 5:00 p.m. during summer hours they are from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. the last entry at 6:30p.m. Entrance to the temple is free. 



 Before entering the complex, there is a security check. There is a separate line for men and women.

 You will pass through a metal detector then your bags will be checked and you may be frisked bysecurity personnel. You will walk down a designated path to the temple providing good spots for pictures please. 



Remain on the designated paths. The temple is renown for its design and engineering It has won several awards from around the world. The Lotus Temple is constructed from white marble. The nine sides of the temple form the 27 marble petals.


 The nine doors of the Lotus Temple lead to a centralhall that has a capacity of 2,500 people and is 40 meters high. The floor inside the central hall is also made out of marble. This is anactive temple, 
 prayer services are held at 10:00 a.m., 12 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.in the prayer hall. 



Guests are not allowed in the prayer hall during thistime but must wait until the prayers are over which are usually 5 to 10 minutes. 


 According to bahai scriptures a house of worship cannot have any pictures, statues, or images displayed inside therefore when you go inside it will besparse unlike other temples in India. 


When you arrive at the temple, check your shoes at the shoe "room" (and put your shoes in the bag.) Get in line and you'll get sorted into groups to go upto the main entrance. As one group leaves another group will enter the prayer hall. Once in the prayer hall no talking is allowed.


 You'll have about 10 to 15minutes in the hall. Cameras, video cameras, or mobile phones must not beused inside the prayer hall or the Information Center.


 After exiting theprayer hall, you can visit the Welcome Center or the library. When youare done, remember to collect your shoes The Information Center has short bahaifilms in English and Hindi for those interested.


 Please collect a free pass atthe exit door of the prayer hall Children under the age of 12 are notpermitted. This attraction will take one or more hours depending on your interestand the security line.
